What is this book about?

This manual of practical physics experiments was published by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and developed with VVOB and the Regional Teacher Training Centre (RTTC) of Kandal. It covers Chapter 4, Pressure; Chapter 5, Optics; and Chapter 6, Electromagnetism. Experiments include the relation between pressure, force and surface area, the effect of depth on pressure in a liquid, buoyancy, a simulated tornado showing pressure in gases, Bernoulli's principle, reflection with a home-made periscope, and the refraction of a laser beam in water. Each experiment sets out objectives, links to lessons in the Grade 7 and Grade 8 physics textbooks, materials, procedure, observations and an explanation, all using low-cost, easy-to-find materials. Teacher trainers and teachers can use it to bring hands-on, student-centred activities into science lessons. The 136-page manual can be read online and downloaded free of charge.
