This beginners' English textbook was produced by The Nippon Foundation and the Education Support Center “KIZUNA” to accompany a series of radio programmes; its foreword is signed by Yohei Sasakawa and Bun Sambo. It runs from Unit 21 to Unit 40 and treats everyday topics: finding things at home, food such as prahoc and Cambodian fruit, favourite colours, daily routines and telling the time, feelings, places to visit in Cambodia, the rainy season and the Water Festival, with regular review units. Each unit presents key words and phrases with Khmer translations, a short conversation between Devi and Tom, and practice tasks such as unscrambling words and letters, matching, and translating between English and Khmer. A word list and the conversations close the book. Pupils can use it with the radio lessons or for self-study, and teachers for classroom practice. It can be read online and downloaded free of charge.
