Mathematics Education in Singapore is a scholarly volume published by Springer and edited by Tin Lam Toh, Berinderjeet Kaur and Eng Guan Tay of the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University. Its chapters are grouped into four parts: the Singapore school mathematics curriculum, teaching and learning practices in Singapore mathematics classrooms, teacher education and professional development, and a conclusion. Individual chapters examine the intended and enacted curriculum, Singapore's participation in TIMSS, PISA and TEDS-M, problem solving, mathematical modelling, metacognition, low attainers and the use of technology in mathematics teaching. A foreword by Andreas Schleicher of the OECD presents the book as an account of how policy and classroom practice were aligned. Teacher educators and student teachers can use it to study how one system designs its curriculum and prepares its mathematics teachers. The book has 502 pages and can be read online and downloaded free of charge.
